Brand Designer, Researcher, Web Designer, Strategist
This project challenged the team to make a course for non-creatives who want to work with creatives but don’t know where to start. To begin I was asked to make a website that acts as foundational content for anyone who wants a basic idea of the creative process, the website is called “Design 101: For Founders Who Can’t Afford a Pro.” I then spent some time researching how to make a successful online course and evaluate the competition, along with making user personas. I then built out the online course with the modules and worksheets. My final task was to brand the course and make advertisements along with advertisement strategies.
The solution came in various stages. I first had to do research, refinement, and design for the website. I then had to do some strategy work on how to build a successful course, who might want it, and where it should be implemented, and finally brand and market the course.

Branding The Creative Whisperer was fun but challenging because it needed to encompass a wide range of products and be versatile enough to speak to a wide range of people.
I was given a document made a few years back by the owner of Studio J Lorne. My first task was to analyze the document and make refinements to the copy and content. This stage also involved finding visual inspiration from other websites and courses along with an audit on any potential competition.
The strategy stage came with a lot of digging around on what makes a course successful. I made user personas to hone in on our different ideal customers. I came up with different ways to market to each group. Then I came up with plans for where the advertisements should go and the best places to implement them.
I started out in Figma wireframing both the web and mobile versions of the app, and then moved into Wordpress using Elementor to build out the site. Using Wordpress was a slight learning curve but it was fun to be able to use my HTML and CSS knowledge to embed some custom code.
I used what I had researched as well as feedback from my peers to build out a 9 module course on how to work with creatives. The course covered everything from figuring out what creative assets you need, to what types of creatives there are, to where to find them, and then building out a contract with them, communicating needs, and best ways of communicating to ensure an outcome you are happy with. This stage was a combination of the expertise of my boss and I, as well as using ChatGPT to fill in any gaps and speed up workflow.
Module 1
Understanding your creative needs.
First, the student needs to be clear about their company goals, and what assets they need.
Module 2
Finding your creative.
Now that they know what they want, we explain the different types of creative people, and where to find them (ex. freelancers vs. agencies).
Module 3
Project parameters.
This module walks the student through establishing their expectations, timeline, and budget.
Module 4
Writing the brief.
Here we explain everything the person will need to provide to their creative to get their desired outcome (both technical and aesthetic guidelines).
Module 5
Project management.
This module is exactly how it sounds, we set out the best tips and tricks for the student to have ease of communication and be able to provide feedback to their creative.
Module 6
Crafting the agreement.
This has all the technical information that the student will need, including their rights, and the rights of the creative, including licensing, confidentiality, revisions, and project termination.
Module 7
Reviewing the deliverable.
Here we go over different file types to expect, and how to store them.
Module 8
Building and maintaining the relationship with the creative.
The student has worked so hard to get here we want them to be able to continue working on more projects.
Module 9
In the end, we want the students to be equipped with all the skills needed to work with any type of creative, from a designer, to a videographer, to marketers, copywriters, and beyond. We want them to succeed in whatever entrepreneurial path they undertake.
The final stage of this project was actually creating the advertisements and implementing everything I had done up until this point. This stage was exciting because I got to combine creative skills with strategy.
